Restore errors, does not have valid credentials.

I need a solution

Hi guys,

I'm trying to do a restore and it just won't let me, keeps giving me the error after about 10 secs everytime;

"servername.domain.co.uk Restore 00038 -- The job failed with the following error: Backup Exec could not log on to the server with the logon account specified for it. The logon account does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct in the logon account.

I can backup absolutely fine but it just won't restore because some credential issues, I'm running backup exec 2012 on Windows Server 2008 R2, service pack for is installed and 2 hotfix's 215906 & 217347. Also there are no avaliable updates to install at all and I'm restoring from Tapes and the tape is in :-P.

Any help would be great thank you, I can't seem to find an answer.

Many thanks

James

Finding backup from a seperate SU when restoring files in BAR

I need a solution

I have a backup scenario with a master server and 2 media servers with several client servers being backed up with different policies writing to disk on these 2 media servers. Here's my problem I have 2 different policies backing up different file selections from the same file server, store3, with one policy backing up to media server1 and the other to media server2. I need to pull some files back from the second policy but when I go into BAR on the file server that the 2 policies are backing up I only see selections for the data backed up with the first policy even though the second policy completes with no errors and I can see the netbackup img files in the correct storage unit on disk. What do I need to do to restore the data from the second policy?

This is Netbackup 7.6.1.

NetBackup for Microsoft SQL Server

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

Does Symantec have any major product updates in the works re: the NetBackup for Microsoft SQL Server?

We are comparing the product to backup solutions from database-specific vendors like RedGate and Idera.  Looking for better capabilities in a centralized management console.  The dedicated products also seem to have a more intuitive GUI for one-off backup/restores.

Want to give NetBackup for SQL a fair shake, though.

I found the bpnbat command through this thread:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/adm...

It looks like my cert has expired...

I've never worked on this cert before. How do I go about getting this updated? I wasn't able to find anything in the admin guides...

Size of the Data Folde grows since the Upate to Backup Exec 2014

I need a solution

Hello,

since we've installed Backup Exec 2014 the size of the Data Folder grows continously. In the Data folder I've found a log of folders(nearly 35.000) named like VM's with a timestamp. The most folders have only a few KB, but the folders from the Exchange Server have more than 300 MB.

Does anybody know where they come from and whether this folder can be deleted?

Thank you very much in advance,

Daniel

It would be nice for Symantec Backup Exec 2015 to support the Buffalo LinkStation 220 Storage for GRT backup and restore.

Can this be done?

It would be very helpful

Job failed with error 69. log: 33 minute timeout waiting on VSS snapshot

I need a solution

Hi,

We have several clients, each of them has several folders on logical volumes to be backed up. Every folder is assigned to a different stream so that many streams run at the same time. For the client I am looking at now - 13 streams. Every day 2-3 streams fail with error 69. I was told by Symantec support that it happens because VSS is busy with writing snapshot for another folder of the same drive. When NetBackup is requesting for a snapshot to backup - it fails as no snapshot has been done yet. Here is part of the log:

---------------------------

10:33:07.314 AM: [3668.10092] <2> tar_backup_tfi::setupFileDirectives: TAR - backup filename = Shadow Copy Components:\User Data\Distributed File System Replication\DfsrReplicatedFolders\ROBU - E
10:33:33.038 AM: [3668.10092] <2> ov_log::V_GlobalLog: INF - Using VSS to generate a new SnapshotSetID
10:33:33.053 AM: [3668.10092] <2> ov_log::V_GlobalLog: INF - VssSnapshotVolume- a previous VSS snap is in progress. Entering retry/timeout waiting for snap to complete. Timeout period: 0x7d0
.
. < 33 minute timeout waiting on VSS snapshot>
.
11:07:03.992 AM: [3668.10092] <2> ov_log::V_GlobalLog: INF - StartSnapshotSet failed with error: [0x80042316][VSS_E_SNAPSHOT_SET_IN_PROGRESS]
11:07:03.992 AM: [3668.10092] <2> ov_log::V_GlobalLog: INF -  EXIT VssSnapshotVolume::Initialize() return=[0x80042316 VSS_E_SNAPSHOT_SET_IN_PROGRESS]!
11:07:04.164 AM: [3668.10092] <2> tar_base::V_vTarMsgW: INF - EXIT STATUS 69: invalid filelist specification

---------------------------

My question is whether it is possible to extend this 33 min timeout of waiting for the snapshot.

Temporary solution I test atm is to limit number of multiple streams to 3 at the same time, but it does not always work without error 69. To get rid of it with this implementation I will have to reorder streams carefully to avoid placing folders from the same drive one after another. That might work, but I am not sure that backup will go within 24 hours. In addition, this is a very fragile set up and might break any time data raises or folders added or whatever.

Thank you

Slow backup speed

We are using netbackup 7.6.1 on a windows 2008 master server. Backups run fine except on two windows 2012 R2 physical servers. The speed we are getting is about 500 kb/sec.

Any idea what to look for? These are relatively small servers (less than 500 MB).

Excessive Backup Time

I need a solution

I am using SSR 2013 on a Win XP system. I have installed all the components that were specified prior to SSR 2013 installation (WIN & .Net 4). Installation went smoothly with no errors reported. However, when I try to perform the initial backup, what usually takes 15 - 20 minutes is now taking 5 hours. This is being backed up on a local hard drive, NOT over the intranet. I would welcome any and all suggestions on how to correct this issue.

Thank you
