Opscenter 7.6 Not showing all Failed Jobs

Good Afternoon Everyone,
I have a question that hopefully is an easy one. We recently implemented an upgraded OpsCenter server at version 7.6 running Windows Server 2008 R2.
Everything is up and running and our 3 backup hosts (multiple sites) are reporting in normally.
My question is as follows:
When I create a custom failed job report, it lists all failed job except for the jobs that failed due to the backup window closing.
I checked the configuration of the report on our old OpsCenter 7.1 server and it is identical.
Even if I choose a standard report for failed jobs, the backup window closed failures do not show. I can run a separate report for the backup window being closed which does show those jobs.
Is this a normal function now in 7.6 as I would have thought a failed job report would list all failures regardless of type of failure

Need help on Netbackup 6.5

This is my first post in this forum also I am new to Netbackup admin role.
I need your help in troubleshooting netbackup client server 6.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6 (Tikanga).
We have NBU master server 7.1.0.4 on AIX 6.5 but this client have only NBU 6.5 in it and also it seems we cannot upgrade the NBU client version.
I am having problem in connecting with this client, can you please let me know how to start the services on NBU 6.5. generally I use "netbackup start" and "netbackup stop" to bounce the services but not sure how to do it in NBU 6.5.
Can some one please help in this.

Hi, Dont know too much how 2014 works but the setup at this company seems to be that if a daily incremental fails, then a full is run, because a new incremental cant be run without a full first having been done. Is there anyway around this ? Is this right ?

Hello! It seems opscenter is not configured correctly or the HTTPS settings are not secure enough. Here is the message I get when I try to login with Opera:
Server has a weak ephemeral Diffie-Hellman public keyThis error can occur when connecting to a secure (HTTPS) server. It means that the server is trying to set up a secure connection but, due to a disastrous misconfiguration, the connection wouldn't be secure at all!
In this case the server needs to be fixed. Opera won't use insecure connections in order to protect your privacy.

A quick search on the web points me to a weak key (smaller than 1024bit) being used for the https connections. Where/how can I fix this? The other browsers allow me to connect but I would prefer not using IE or Firefox...

Netbackup bplist.
I need a solution
Hi,
I am writing a perl script to restore the log created on a certain day. As I understand from the bplist command i can only specify the start/end date of when the backup ran not the file created.
Is there any option to list the files on a certian day created? example: it looks available backup images are 05th April and 12April where i need files from 04th April. as the files are created same name like file_log1 .. file_log10 and starts with file_log1...file_log10.
any thoughts much apprecited.

NBU 7.6.1, vSphere 6 and NFS 4.1 support

We are setting up a new vSphere 6.0 infrastructure with new NetApp NFS volumes (array is a 8060 in cDot 8.3) mounted with NFS 4.1.
So I have added my new VC in NBU. Then I tried to backup a VM on my new Datastore and got the error:
Error nbpem(pid=24969226) Invalid, unsupported or disconnected datastores for VM name = [VM_NAME], server = [vCenter Name], datastore(s) = [My NFS 4.1 Datastore]
I tried to back up a VM on a local ESX datastore and here it's working perfectly.
So did anyone succeed to back up VMs on vSphere 6 running on NFS v4.1? Is it supported? Found nothing is the documentation.

Understanding VSS better
I need a solution
Using Backup Exec 2014 V-Ray Edition to protect our VMware environment that has 6 ESXi v5.1 hosts. I have a question regarding the whole VSS process. I understand that there are two possible VSS Providers in our environment, the one included with VMware Tools and the one included with the Remote Agent for Backup Exec. Just to clarify, regardless of which VSS Provider I use, they both talk to the Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service to actually do the snapshot of the virtual server, correct? If so, is there an alternative method to create full virtual machine backups that don't rely on the Microsoft VSS? Something that VMware and/or Backup Exec can do completely outside of the guest Windows environment? Thanks.

Backup Exec on VmWare ESXi Host Logon Issue
I need a solution
I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 running Backup Exec 15 with a license for a VmWare Agent. I installed the Agent to the ESXi Host and the host shows up under servers in backup exec. When I create a job to backup the virtual machines on teh Esxi Host I keep getting error messages.
Final error: 0xe0009b61 - Backup Exec could not log on to the server with the logon account specified for it
The account that it is using is the root account on teh Esxi Host. Testing credentials teh ESXi Host tests fine, but teh virtual machine credential test fails.
I have recreated backup jobs, created a different logon account on teh Esxi Host with Administrator Privledges, and checked that teh security settings are getting replicated from the ESXi Host to teh Virtual Machines. I am still getting the error message.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue??

Dear All,
We have a NetBackup version 7.1 Master/Media Environment running on IBM AIX 6.1. We are adding a NetBackup appliance (as media server) to this environment. Since the NetBackup Appliance will be on version 2.6.1 therefore we need to upgrade our existing environment from 7.1 to 7.6.1.1
I wanted expert opinion on what should be the path to upgrade NetBackup from 7.1 to 7.6.1.1. I heard from a colleague that first i should go to 7.5, then 7.5.0.4, then 7.6.1 and then 7.6.1.1.
Please guide me on this. According to sort, i can upgrade directly from 7.1 to 7.6.1 and then patch it to 7.6.1.1

Hello - am tasked to do some house cleaning by deleting volume pools no longer in use in my environment. Before then, I would like to confirm this pools are not currently listed in either active SLPs & POLICIES. The delima here is that, I have close to 300 backup policies & 32 SLPs. So traditional manual check on activity monitor seems not feasible.
My question now is ,can any one please help with commands or OPScenter query to check which of these volume pools are still listed in these policy & in use and which are not?

Snapvault failing through Replication Director Netbackup 7.6.0.1

I have Netbackup Replication director for Virtual Machine. Below is workflow for hourly backup :
Snapshot --> Snapmirror (Replication with mirrored retention)---> Snapvault
Replication Job fails with status code 34 or 174
the snapvault replication gets cancelled by the backup service account, I can see these through DFM Server.
Snapvault when run manually through netapp is successful.
Can any one help me with this?

Dismiss old notification server and register new one
I need a solution
I had to replace the old server running SSR 2013 R2 management solution with a new one. Toghether with this, I also moved the SQL database from an old 2008R2 server to a new sql 2012 server. These servers when down, so I was restoring the database by extracting it from a BACKUP made with SSR2013. I didn't want to restore the full backups because I also wanted to migrate to windows 2012 r2 (from 2008r2) and to sql 2012.
To do this I followed some discussions i found in this forum.
1)Installed SQL server 2012 on SQLNEW
2)restored the database from the backup into the DATA folder of mysql server on SQLNEW
3)imported the database in sql 2012
4)installed SIM on NOTIFICATIONSERVERNEW
5)started SSR 2013 install on NOTIFICATIONSERVERNEW, SIM added Symantec managements platform 7.5 SP1 automatically
6)In the install procedure I select the SQLNEW as new server, and i select to use existing database
7)I wait for the installation, the configuration takes a lot of time as expected
8)In Altiris management console on NOTIFICATIONSERVERNEW, I went to Manage->Filters->Computer Filters->All computers and removed the old dismissed servers, except NOTIFICATIONSERVEROLD that has no delete option
then i navigate to Manage->Filters->Notification Server Filters->Notification Server and Manage->Filters->Notification Server Filters->Site Server.
In the first, only NOTIFICATIONSERVEROLD is listed.
QUESTION1) How can i add NOTIFICATIONSERVERNEW and remove NOTIFICATIONSERVEROLD from this list?
In the second, both servers are listed
QUESTION2)How can i remove NOTIFICATIONSERVEROLD from this list?

Edit standard reports
I need a solution
Hi,
I want to edit the standard report with the name "Jobs Summary" in BE2014.
The point is that there are no options to sort by time and/or exclude some jobs with name like sql transaction or exchange logs
Can anybody help me with finding a good report?
I tried to make a custom report but when I do that.. i only see all the servers which is backuped by a Job and I only want to see 1 rule and thats the job..

Best procedure for Archiving Tape
I need a solution
Everyday there are 8-9 Backup jobs are running in our Backup Exec.
Recently deciding to do make a Archive of One day's data. Please do suggest some recommendations.
Please do keep in mind that, all the jobs are configured as "Tape Daily Backup". Do i need to reconfigure as "Infinite Data to Tape" before archiving?

netbackup duplication from disk to tape using slp and destaging
I need a solution
hello all, this is my first post but have been looking at this forum for sometimes now. basically here is my env:
3 sites (netbackup 7.6.1)
A (remote). Media server + MSDP
B (HQ). Master, Media server(B1) + MSDP, 4 tape drives LTO5, Basic disk for Destaging to tape.
Media server(B2), Basic disk for Destaging to tape on B1
C (remote). Media server + Basic disk
-backup for remote A goes to MSDP then duplicate to B using schedule slp.
-There are backup that uses B1 as destination and there are also backup that uses B2 as destination as well
-All backup to disk eventually will destage to tape, this is hourly
-All SLP from remote site will replicate to B1 MSDP then duplicate to tape. I have schedule slp setup for this. Only runs during offpeak (non business hours)
As you can see, all backup eventually will write to tape. Because of destaging to tape AND duplication from MSDP to tape runs in serial, the tape drives will gets very busy and all jobs will be competing for it.
the problems:
1. as more destaging jobs and slp jobs competing for tape drive resources, we have to keep increasing our the disk size for backup. Backup images are not fast enough being dumped to tape causing bakcup to fail with disk storage is full.
2. we are already using job priority on backup jobs.the problem is, those high priority job will use the tape drive and keeping those low priority job queue, when next round backup comes in then writing to tape, it will goes into a queue. So this is kind a snow ball effect eventually, duplication jobs and destaging jobs gets more and more in the queue but little gets completed.
We have put mail, database,etc as high priority but they are also have large backup in size, hence it will take long to finish writing to tape (hogging the tape drives).
my questions:
1.from my observation, we are in need more of tape drives, but how many more? is there some sort of formula to calculate this (best practise some sort)
2.has anyone have similar environment and setup? what would be your solution or way around the tape drive bottle neck?
