I need to prepare a restore for Windows 2008R2 64bit + SFW 5.1sp2 in my netbackup environment v7.5.0.6.
I known is compatible only if I create a legacy srt...ok but when I try to add storage foundation 5.1sp2 dvd to
SRT the installation is stopped with this messages: VRTSmh not found ...what does it mean?

Running Backup Exec 2014 on Server 2008 Standard R2
I have my backup exec configured to backup to an external usb drive which i swap out on a daily basis with another external usb drive. I am constantly having issues with Backup exec not recognizing the hard drives or showing offline. Is this a method you DONT recommend? Should the same USB drive be plugged in at all times and not swapped out?

I have to use BE 15,
so I download the terial verion of this application and I1m tesing it ...
But I Have a Question:
Is there any way to migrate from BE2010 to BE 15 ?
there are many MediaSets in my backup server for BE2010 that all of them are write on the Tape with this structure!
when I connect my new backupserver with BE 15 to tape library and inventory and catalogue media tapes, it looks that this version of BE (15) cant recognize the media of last version (2010) !

en effet mon server backup fonctionne correctement, mais c'est le serveur continous protection qui ne fonctionne pas.
lorsque j'effectue une sauvegarde de ma base de données Exchange et que je selection la suvegarde en permanence des journaux de tansactions avec backup exec continuous protection server, et que je valide, il me renvoie le message d'erreur suivant: vous devez installer exchange protection agent for Backup Exec continuous protection server sur le serveur de support avant de selectionner l'option "sauvegarder en permanance les journaux des transactions avec backup exec continuous protection server".
j'ai donc decidé d'installer continuous server. mais à l'intallation lorque j'entre la clé, et je fais suivant, je constact que Exchange Protection Agent n'est pas disponible pour installation.
lorsque je continus quant même l'intallation, il me renvoie l'erreur suivante:Error 1719. the windows installer service could not be accessed. this can occur if the windows installer is not correctly installed. contact your support personnel for assistance.
je suis confus car je n'arrive pas à faire des sauvegardes incrementielle sur ma base exchange.

We have old month restoration request for flat files. Problem is restoration is not successfull due to space crunch in the destination restore location.
They give us some space and it gets full. Its been happening for a long time. So restore is pending.
We are not quiet sure about the size of the files so that we can ask for the exact sapce beacuse there are innumerable smaill flat files inside the
directories and directories are many.
Suppose we have below resoration directories.
/tmp/restore1 - 1000 smaill files
/tmp/restore2- 2000 smail files
/tmp/restore3 - 3000 small files
Is there any way in BAR gui or somewhere else where i select the directories for restoration and it gives me exact size and I can tell the space required

i need to know best policy for vmware backup. overwrite protection period required to set.
i am using backup exec 2010 with service pack 4 + hotfix.
there are some policies already with backup exec. such as "Agent for vmware incremental 0001". i need to take vmware vmdk images.
will this policy work?
We have Backup Exec 2015 and we're backing up a SharePoint server. Its just one server with one SharePoint site.
In Backup Exec there are two entries, the server itself and another named "Server Farm 1". The two entries are battling each other.
Question is why are there two Jobs for one server and why can't I attach dissimilar jobs in the scheduler to run sequentially?

En Netbackup enterprise server tengo conectada una libreria virtual por ACS, CENTRICSTOR de Fujitsu, cada "cinta" es de 10GB y el problema es que aunque Netbackup sabe que cintas están usadas y cuales no, la libreria no puede saberlo. Cuando le pido montar una cinta virtual para escribirla, la libreria virtual me recupera el dato que puede estar en la cache ó en una libreria física con lo que tarda mucho.
La pregunta es: ¿al ejecutarse las politicas de backup puedo decirle algo a la libreria como Mount scratch?
¿como puedo ejecutar un script que marque mis cintas available como scratch en el Centricstor?
Probably more of a hardware issue but I hope theres been someone seen this before...I have an LTO4 drive in a robot with other LTO4s.
One has now started behaving erratically but doesnt show an error.
It seems its undecided about what sort of drive it is:it advertises itself as HP ultrium lto4, but dont try putting an LTO4 tape in : it gets spat out.
Eventually I tracked this down and on the filer to which it is attached I get this response:
filer> mt -f nrst3a status
Tape drive: Hewlett-Packard LTO-4 :good
Status: offline
Format: LTO-2(ro)/3 2/400GB: not so good.
fileno = -1 blockno = -1 resid = 0
so this goes some way to explain the behaviour. All thats left is to figure out why my drive now thinks it might be an lto2/3 drive having been an lto4 for all of its life so far. It and the robot have both been rebooted to no avail.
The ideal answer would not involve replacing the drive though I feel this may be optimistic.

We do our backups for VMs using NetBackup VIP policy. The last few days I have noticed that the Windows admins added a network interfaces to cluster nodes. The additional IP addresses are private IP addresses used only to communicate between the cluster nodes.
The backup was working fine with public IP and FQDN before the new network interfaces. Backups still work but now they are being done as backup for the private IPs of the VMs rather than the public/FQDN.
Is there a way to configure which IP gets used for backups (in VIP) by NetBackup? in NetBackup or VMware or even in Windows (node run Windows)?

We mapped SAN LUNs to each appliance using single target and single initiator zoning, but for some reason the appliance is detecting over 300+ path/device/disk (/dev/sg313). We only have about 77 LUNs provisioned on our SAN, so the high counts must be representing the individual paths.
The 5230 initiator ports have its own dedicated zone and not mixed up with any ESXi zone.

In the backup calendar, I can see my job is on hold on the next Friday schedule. Right click only gives me the option to "Exclude Date"...?
I do not see my job under "All Servers > Jobs". How do I release my backup job from Hold? I need this job to run this coming weekend.
