I need a solution

Hello.

I have standalone tape drive ( not a library) HP StorageWorks LTO-5 Ultrium 3280  SAS.

For the last 7 days it requested the cleaning cartridge of 5 times.

This tape drive  works more than 5 years and writes on a tape for 15 hours every day.

What happened?   

The resource of head  ended? Or a head so strongly became soiled that the cleaning cartridge helps not for a long time?

1. What to do ? 

My backups can't successfully finished.

2. I have another  standalone tape drive ( not a library) HP StorageWorks LTO-5 Ultrium 3000 SAS.

Now it isn't connected to my server.

How to step by step to enter this device into operation and to reassign all tape pools on it?

Hi,

Kindly mpte that I a;ready jave a virtual robotic library that is licensed and is in use. But i want to get a new virtual robotic tape library to replace the old one. but i still want tp use the old virtual robotic tape library for 3 additioal months in case of restores. Can i use a trial version of the license for 2 months or it is not possible?

should i purchase a new license for the old virtual robotic tape liicrary ?

please advise

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

It this a feature people could/would use if available ?

Seems to be a function in the vmware api, where only the changed is moved in a restore which of course makes it faster than a traditional restore.

Personally I have mostly restored either single files/folders or full VMs, when the VM had either been deleted or was unusable for some reason.

Thinking there might be some caveats, since Sýmantec/Veritas hasn't implemented the feature already

'm using netbackup 7.5.0.6,

In the catalog backup, I saw a list of tape backup and polciy name.

Currently, this policy is no longer existed in policy list. We need to chech host name in this backup policy catalog.

Can we do that or any netbackup comment to list host in netbackup policy from catalog?

I have created a batch/script file for SQL server 2012 backup, Script creates successfully on my SQL server. After that I created a policy for SQL server backup and add that script file in my newly created SQL backup policy in Netbackup 7.6

Scenerio 1:- 

When I run manual backup from Netbackup Master server, an error occurs and backup gone failed with the following logs.

I get this error below when i trey to restore from VHDX.

Backup exec: 2014 SP2

OS: Windows 2012 R2 64 bid Std

Backup device: VTL

Final error: 0xe0001215 - The staging location on the Backup Exec server does not have enough disk space to stage the restore job. Click Configuration and Settings, click Backup Exec Settings, and then click Granular Restore Technology to change the staging location, and then run the job again.

Please assist.

The consistency check of the snapshot for the Microsoft Exchange database Database was successful.
Storage device "IBM 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
V-79-57344-34036 - An unknown error has occurred.

After this, the next two jobs run OK, but to another tape in the library.  This job's tape has an unreadable end-marker.  I asked my onsite contact how old the cleaning tape was, and he didn't know so we are getting him a new one asap.  Hopefully that does it.

Hey,

A quick one.

I'm migrating backup jobs from one Backup Exec 15 server to another, moving from (for arguments sake) a physical box with NAS Backup and tape replication to a virtual box with NAS Backup and NAS Replication.

I need to point the new box at the existing VCenter, where the existing box is already pointing to.

Is this going to cause me any issues? That is, having two Backup Exec servers pointing to the one Vcenter Agent?

And, one other question - is it at all possible to configure the existing tape drive on the old server as a destination on the new server, just as an interim measure?

Assuming that we want to deploy Symantec DLO on our HQ and for few branches by using single administrative console.

Take note that we want to separate the storage/dedupe (each branch have their own storage) ; Do we need to deploy any separate edge/io server for each Branch ?

What is the best practices recommendation ?

I need a solution

Hi, 

Windows 2008 R2 Server, Backup Exec 2014, LTO-3 Tapes / Drive

I am exeperiencing a strange issue, we backup up pretty much identical data on a daily basis, lets's say for arguments sake, 5GB is the absolute most the backup size will fluctuate. 

One day the backup will successfully complete and write the data to tape with a total size of 542GB. The next day I will come in and the backup is stopped waiting for a second tape yet is has only written 535GB? 

All tapes are the same HP LTO-3's, backup is set to always overwrite and I have even tried new tapes and run in to the same issue?

Any ideas? I am at a loss :/
