I need a solution

Hi,

I wish to know if there are a way to change the credentials (user/password) that I used to install my symantec dlo server,

When I installed, I used the default domain administrator, I want to change to an user like dloadmin with admin privilegies because the default domain administrator account is going to be disabled.

I have the symantec dlo console on a windows server 2012 std and I running the version of DLO Symantec_Desktop_and_Laptop_Option_80075a_64-bit

I don't want to reinstall the clients one by one, I dont want to reinstall my windows server.

Thanks for your support

NDMP Backup and Restore difficulties

I need a solution

Hi,

We have a Dell Fluid FS8600 NAS and are using the NDMP option within Backup Exec 2014 to backup the NAS over NDMP.

The backup job has been running and backing up TBs of data over the past few weeks but has started to give an error of late. The error is: -

"NDMP Log Message: Mover: Data connection socket read error. NDMP Mover Halted: Internal Error NDMP Data Halted: Aborted "

A full backup normally would backup over 10TB whereas the same backup job is failing after a few hundred GB with this message.

where can I find further information about this error? Is there a specific NDMP log file within Backup Exec?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Colin.

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)

Hello,

This is a 3-5 min survey covering two topics, Dynamic Browse and Instant Recovery – powering up a virtual machine from your backups.
Dynamic browse will allow you to restore granular data without having to first catalog the backup and without impacting the backup window. Better performance enabling you to meet your recovery point objectives.

Instant Recovery enabling you to direct, power up, and manage a Virtual Machine from your latest backup.

Click here for the survey link

We’d like to thank you and the many customers & partners who’ve showed interest and even participated in our new approach to delivering quarterly releases using the Agile methodology.  During these bi-weekly 30 minute discussions have an open dialogue on a specific topic, and we often share the workflow and UI progress based on your feedback.

For those already participating we thank you.  Your participation has been of great value and we have received so many positive comments.

Continuing on, we are opening up the program and accepting additional participation and that is why you are receiving this invitation to help make a difference.  Our goal is to solve customers top problems and make your life easier allowing you to focus on higher priority items and not managing your backups.

If you are interested in participating in our 30-min bi weekly discussions and provide feedback please let us know via the survey.

Hi all!

Does anybody know how AIR transfer images from one to another NBU domain? I mean, which protocol/application transfer data between NBU domains? and if the data transferred is compressed or encripted?

Thanks!!

Oracle DB discovery - duplicate instances in admin console

I need a solution

I recently have started to investigate OIP for our Oracle backups.  One of my hosts was configured with a FQDN in its bp.conf, which was not standard in our environment.  So I modified the bp.conf so "CLIENT_NAME" is no longer fully qualified.

Issue now is that I'm getting duplicate entries in my "All Instances" list for the host - one set for the non-qualified hostname and another for the FQDN.

Question is - how do I get rid of the duplicate set?  I've deleted the instances, but they come back.  I've restarted NBU services on the client.  I've tried clearing the host cache.

None of these have worked - the duplicate instances continue to show up.

OIP experts?  Any ideas?

I've read the article on setting up the cloud connector in BE15, but it doesn't really have many details, and the help doesn't show it either...

What are the recommended settings for these other fields in the storage settings?

I need a solution

Hi All,

I installed NetBackup client on my RedHatLinux KVM.

During upgrade my KVM, I backed up the files under /usr/openv. But after upgrading my KVM, I found that NetBackup client service is not started.

I have to manually start it by running command "/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.start_all".

Does anyone know which file should I backup to keep the NetBackup client service start after I upgrade my KVM??

Regards,

Lacey

Windows 2012 R2 Socket Write Error

I need a solution

Hi,

I have an issue with a server that fails to backup the C: drive with an error Status 24: Socket Write Error. Yet the child jobs for the D:, E: & F: drives all work without any problems.

When i start a backup job it looks like its going to start okay. Looking in the detailed status of the job it gets down to where it says "begin writing" and starts to count up the files being written then we get this error;

Critical bpbrm(pid=) from client CLIENT1: FTL - socket write failed

NOTE: I cannot post any log files or outputs on here as these servers operate in our secure cloud environment. So posting logs/hostnames/IP is not allowed. Sorry.

This is a Windows 2012 R2 Virtual Machine and it was built at the same time as another server of the same design which works. We are running 7.5.0.6 client and 7.6.0.4 on the media and master servers.

I have read all sorts of posts about possible network issues or client timeouts but since this server with the problem is sat on the same ESX host as the second server built at the same time (which works perfectly) i cannot see networks this being the issue here.

So i was wondering if anyone might have any ideas where to start looking?

Can't continue backup from full tape to another tape in one media set

I need a solution

Hi All,

I got some issues with the Backup exec 2014:

1. When the job backup to the tape and then the tape is fulled, but the job don't change to another tape in the same media set.

2. If I don't check "Eject the media after the job compleles", the job won't write to correct media set and will change to the "associate media" to the media set of the job.

3. What meaning of media overwrite options:

-  Overwrite scratch media before overwriting recylable media contained in the targeted media set.

-  Overwrite recyclable media contained in the targeted media set before overwriting scratch media.

anyone have solutions?

Thanks in adv!!!

I need a solution

I have an environment where I own a MasterServer and MediaServer in version 7.5.0.6 installed on windows servers Server 2008. I am doing the migration to version 7.7. I installed on a WIndows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Virtual server the MasterServer with version 7.7.

What should I do first to perform the migration from version 7.5 to 7.7?
