Hi all,
I am somewhat new to BE and robotic storage. Our facility is upgrading from BE 12.5 and a single tape backup device to a TL2000 autoloader and keeping BE12.5. The TL2000 holds 23 tapes. After reading many forum posts, manual pages and watching intructional videos I am unable to find the solution to this.
I am trying to configure BE and the TL2000 to manage my weekly incremental and weekly full backups so that I do not need to interact with the unit but once a month when it is time to run the full monthly. (I suppose that 6 months worth of monthlys could be included int this too). We are using LTO4 tapes they hold 800Gb each but our full backup does not fill this so only 1 tape is needed for a ful backup. We use a similar strategy to GFS. One tape for each weekly incremental which runs mon-thur. One tape for each full week backup and one for a full monthly. I could manually move the tapes via the front panel but this would defeat the purpose of having a robot.
I have 5 weekly incremental tapes and 5 weekly. I would like to setup BE so that the robot knows to pull week 1 incremental from slot 5, preform the job and then put it back into slot 5. Then pull week 1 full from slot 6, perform the job and put it back. etc.
I am confused on how the media set, media location and jobs would all be configured together to complete this. I am assuming that I need to create a job for each week incremental, full and one monthly...so 10 jobs (and an additional job for each monthly job that I wanted to program).
All thoughts are appreciated,
-Mike
