persistent tape drive bindings on Linux, multiple paths, etc.

I need a solution

Hi,

We have had LTO5 tape drives zoned into our RHEL media server for some time. It appears that the /dev/nstx paths change whenever the box is rebooted and causes confusion more than anything, NBU seems to handle these path changes, but is there a way to prevent them from moving around? I've noticed that sometimes our drive labled "drive 2" occasionally picks up the physical path of some other drive so that the logical representation in device manager is just that, it doesn't always stay the same. We are not doing SSO, but plan to.

The other thing which I find weird but unexplainable, is that 2 of the drives show up with 3 "paths" when seen with the scan util, but the 2 most recently added drives only have 2 (which is what we expect since each tape drive is present on both fabrics but only one zone (one HBA per fabric).
