I need a solution

Hi All,

Solaris 7.6.0.1 install keeps failing  I had a similar issue some time ago, however it was not SYMCnbclt.

Installing SYMCnbclt package.

./cp_to_client: pkgadd: not found

ERROR:   Failed to install SYMCnbclt on testussm01.

         Cannot complete the install.

         Aborting...

I need a solution

BE 2014 Sp 2

Host Hyper-V server 2012 with 4 server 2012 guests. All have the latest updates. All agents have been updated and are advertising to the backup server.

3 of the guests show all resources while the file server only shows the shares. No other resources are showing up.

I would like to backup only the shares on the file server, but selecting the shares causes the job to fail with "resourses cannot be found"

Credentials at the server level pass, but fail for the shares.

Backing up the whole guest from the host works.

On other servers I am able to chose the volume and select the shares from there. but on this server no volumes are showing up.

The offending server also takes a long time to show the shares when editing the backup job (10 min)

Am at a loss and would appreciate any and all help.

Hi,

Backup Exec 15 - Error e0009757

$

I need a solution

I just installed BE 2015 at a client and I'm a little confused.  The environement I have at the moment is this:

Dell Physical Server running vmWare esxI host

1 VM, Windows SBS 2011 standard.

Backup Exec Capacity Edition has been installed in the guest OS VM.     I'm trying to do a backup on the host level along with all GRT options turned on.  The BE agent has been installed on the guest OS.

When the job runs, it immeaditaely returns with "A Backup Exec media server cannot back itself up when it is installed on a virtual machine." (error e0009757).

Sounds simple enough on the face of it, but I can't understand why as this doesn't seem to be indicated in the admin notes anywhere.  It may be implied and I'm just not understanding that, but the way I'm attempting to backup seems to be way it should be done.  Then when I look at the tech note:

https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH172522.html

Things get a little more confusing because it basically imples that it should work, but might not if non-windows VM's are involved and GRT is turned on. That's not the case here.

So the question is, what way should I be configuring the backup job for this setup.  I should also add that it does contain the tape drive and I have no other physical servers to install this on (there is a second server in the environment, which is a Dell box running 2012 Hyper V with a single 2012 vm, but I was trying to simplify the backup to understand the problem - I will be adding the second server later once I get this first server to backup).

If it should work the way I have it configured (backing up at the host level and then getting meta data via the agent) and the error message is just mis-leading, which I should I be doing /looking for that might be causing the error?   There is only a single vm, so I don't think the tech note would apply.

Or is it really simply a case of it can't work this way?

Jim.

I need a solution

Hi, using 7.6.1.  I have some workloads with 2 week retention.  We do a full every week and DINCs every other day.  Mty intention is to have two weeks full recovery from any day during the fortnight.  The DINCs are dependant on the Full preceding them, but I noticed that the full backup from 2 weeks ago expires before the dependant DINCs expire.  This renders the DINCs useless, as I cannot restore from the assiciated full.  Is there a way to keep the associated full until it's DINCs expire, like a setting which says "don't expitre Full backups which have dependant DINCs associated with it"?  I could extend the retention period, but that puts extra pressure on the storage and does not guarantee that the backups are kept if for some reason full backups were unsuccessful.

Thanks.

I need a solution

This is the second week in a row that I received this error. Backups were working fine for months and then I started to receive this error.

Errors:

BackupV-79-57344-65085 - There was a problem running the DBCC.
DBCC results for 'BEDB'.

Exceptions

Backup- server.mydomain.local\BKUPEXECWARNING: "server.mydomain.local\BKUPEXEC\BEDB" is a corrupt file. This file cannot verify.

Verify- server.mydomain.local\BKUPEXEC
WARNING: "BEDB" is a corrupt file. This file cannot verify.

I use BEutility and tried repairing the database. It repairs but when I run a Check DB Consistency I reports error. Any Ideas? What to the BEDB actually do.

I need a solution

Hi,

I am creating SRT on my server whose OS is 3BL652240055_004_RHEL65b.iso.

I used the same iso mounted on /media/isodvd and created the SRT but ran into error:

The media repository is incomplete.

I deleted the problematic package component names from createsrt.conf file and create the SRT again, but ran into another error liste below.

Can anyone let me know how to do? Thanks in advance.

Duplicate backups from dedupe disk to tape for encryption

I need a solution

Hi, our customer is using NBU 5230 appliance (2.6.0.3), which works as both master and media server in their environment. All the clients are Windows clients and are backed up to the dedupe disk in the appliance. The appliance has connected to a IBM tape library. They use NetBackup Vault to duplicate backups from the dedupe disk to tape for offsite store.

Recently they wants to implement KMS in the appliance. I understand that if they back up directly to tapes in the ENCR_xx pool, the backup images will be encrpted.

My question is:

If they use Vault to duplicate backup images from dedupe disk to the tapes in ENCR_xx pool, will the backup images in the tape be encrypted? Thanks in advance.

I need a solution

I have windows NT workstation 4.0 sp6 and XP, it's already installed in very old hardware , so i want your opinion to take this windows safe and put it in new hardware like (core i3) by backup or clone or any thing else like we will do it.

so can we do it like i said , because the old hardware (cpu)s are totally different from new (cpu)s.

So my question is can i backup my old system by (Norton Ghost, Acronis backup, Symantec ..etc) and put it in new hardware or new PCs???

So can anybody tell me more detail and more discussion about this ,and what are the problems that i will face it ??

Hello,

I'm wondering if there is a way to secure communications between the Java console and the 5230 appliance?  Hoping for a TLS session before typing in username and password.

Thanks,

Steve

Cannot apply SP4 to Backup Exec 2010R3 SP3

I need a solution

Hi all.. Current have BE 2010R3 SP3 installed on a Windows Server 2008R2 system with all OS patches installed.  I've been attempting to update the Backup Exec installation to SP4 for an eventual upgrade to Backup Exec 15, but the update to SP4 failes.

When viewing installed hotfixes, Backup Exec only shows SP3.  I have tried to install SP4 via LiveUpdate and by using the standalone SP4 installer, and both fail.  From both the bkupinst.htm file and the MSI logfile, I see instances of "Error 1328" just before the installer rolls back and informs me it fails:

From bkupinst.htm after using Live Update:

05-05-2015,11:52:31 : File: vxmon.exe, Directory: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\, Size: 1397584
05-05-2015,11:52:31 : ERROR: Error 1328.Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT5CC.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor.
05-05-2015,11:52:31 : Action ended 11:52:31: InstallExecute. Return value 3.
05-05-2015,11:52:31 : Action 11:52:31: Rollback. Rolling back action:

From the MSI logfile after using the standalone installer:

Error 1328.Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT279A.tmp.  It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch.  For more information contact your patch vendor.  System Error: -1072807676

I have tried a repairing the current installation from Control Panel, and it repairs successfully and have rebooted after that point -- but does not help with the SP4 install.  Any ideas?
