I'm not very familiar with Netbackup licensing (in my previous company we had a department dedicated only for that). My question is, in my environment when I check the active licenses, this is the information I have:
Base Netbackup - 5
Additional Clients - 5
Library Based Tape Drives - 6
Does it mean that I can have max 10 standard clients (linux/windows through LAN) and a library with max 6 tape drives?

hi, i'm planning on upgrading my sdlo 7.6 environment (server 2008) to version 8.0
here are my proposed steps:
enable blackout window
shutdown dlo server and take snapshot
perform update from 7.6 to 8.0
remove blackout window
test a few machines to ensure 7.6 agent can still backup without upgrading
now my question is, if something was to go wrong, can i revert back to the snapshot without issues? example, when the blackout window gets removed, and computers start connecting and backing up, and we want to revert back, is this possible without data loss to those computers that just connected and backed up.

i (or more precisely a customer) has a "problem" with duplicate to tape jobs.
The jobs are configured as follows:
Month to Disk -> Duplicate to Tape (Media Set Monthly)
Week to Disk -> Duplicate to Tape (Media Set Weekly)
Day to Disk -> Duplicate to Tape (Media Set Daily)
Problem:
If Tape A is used for a Monthly Backup and becomes overwritable again, BE uses this tape for any job. So it becomes a Daily or Weekly Tape.
The customer wants that, Monthly Tapes stay in their media set. According to the customer, this was usually the case, but since 2-3 months BE doesn't behave like this anymore.
Any ideas?

So I have both the VMware and Exchange Agents installed. For the longest time we had the Exchange backup split into two parts; one backup for files and system state, a second back up for the info store. Now that we have the VMware agent I was wondering if 2 backups were still necessary? Can I just create one job that backs up Exchange through VMware with GRT turned on and call it a day or do I still need to de-couple these back ups?

I've upgraded OpsCenter from 7.1 to 7.6 and I am unable to connect to the Netbackup Master server. Both Netbackup and OpsCenter are on the same server.
First Issue I had was port 3652 was in use by nbdisco and OpsCenter wants to use it for the Broker. I altered the configureAt.bat and changed the 3652 port to 36520 and re-ran the bat file. Now OpsCenter starts. I am unable to connect to the master sever with my administrator account. When I installed Netbackup I select the local system account option and didn't put a username in assuming it would use administrator.
This is the error I am getting:
OpsCenter-10939:Connection to the specified NetBackup Master Server was not established. Enter the valid NetBackup user name and password. Enter the domain name along with the user name, if applicable. For example: domain1\admin
The server was once used as an ADS server and we have since 3 years ago retired ADS. It is not part of any domain controlled network either.

I have been assigned to implement Access Management on the current release. I have questions about implementing NBAC
1- When I issue the commands to implement this, what happens to our users current access?
2- Will they be able to view policies and monitor work until I move them to an appropriate group?
3- We plan on connecting these groups using LDAP. The initial id used to implement NBAC, can that be an LDAP ID?

we have NBU 7.5.0.4 running from last year and we never faced any issue, since last few days i noticed that we are unable to restore from archive now. i can see that tapes are in the library and drives are available but its returning "No Drives are available" error.
i have removed Robots and Drives then reconfigure then, rescan library but still same.

I have a CASO setup with one VM running the CASO role and three media servers on different locations. The media servers are physical with big D: and E: drives (only local disk, no removable disk or so), disk storage + dedupe storage.
Catalogs are stored centrally and all servers run 2012 R2 OS and Backup Exec is fully patched with the latest patches as of today.
Our normal backup procedure is to run the backup jobs to disk and then duplicate to dedupe storage, we also do some optimized duplication from one media server to another with duplication from dedupe to dedupe storage.
We installed all servers early September and everything is running fine except that the disk storage backup sets will not be removed by DLM even if they are expired (or manually expired by right clicking and selecting "expire").
I installed another server to test earlier today and noticed that in the audit log (on the new test server) I could see that DLM log an event for every backup set it removes and it works just fine on that setup. This is a completely independent backup exec instance and only runs one backup job for test.
In the audit log of our "real" backup server there is not a single entry logged by DLM from day one which is really strange.
I logged a case yesterday with Veritas/Symantec support and the test we agreed on doing was to first run an inventory of the disk storage and when that didn't help we decided to do an inventory + catalog as well, since we have 39,5 TB of data to process it will take a while so I decided to try it on one of the other media servers instead (which is not fully used yet) and it didn't help so instead of just waiting until Monday I decided to write here to see if anyone else have experienced the same issue.
I have tried with (and without) the "Allow Backup Exec to delete all expired backup sets" enabled with no change of the result.
Anyone who has information that can help me, it would be very appreciated?
