Hi All, We have Solaris master server and using netbackup 7.6.2 version. backups are writing to Data domain which later getting duplicated to Tape drives.

one of our Data domain exceeded threshhold limit and now we want to clean some data from it in order to release some space on Data Domain.

My managment wants a report which can show them list of all images resides on DD with their respective sizes. So that later they can decide what should be deleted from DD and what should not.

I tried to fetch some data from catalog but its not providing me size detail. Also we have opscenter analytic for reporting and i tried to fetch relevant reports from that but didnt get success. 

Please help me and let me know how i can fetch such report.

Hi,

 I have witnessed this of for the first time. I am trying to restore one SQL DB using Netbackup SQL Client. While browsing for the available backup is Restore SQL server object, I am uaable to see Incremental backups below their predessor Full backups as it should be. I am seeing only Full backup Images. Instead , I can see one more source server  with similar name and under that I can see "DATABASE IMAGE PLACEHOLDER" and all incremental images are under it.

I checked on other SQL servers and do not see any thing like this on them. Any idea what is this DIP  and how to resolve this strange thing

Hi

What is the fastest way to migrate user NUDFs from one location to another? We want to migrate from a NetApp filer to cDOT storage.

I have tried this out before where the DLO server is based in California and I had to migrate users from Minnesota storage to California storage. It took so long that I ended up deleting the users and recreating them pointed to the new storage location. I believe that this was because of grooming that is carried out on backups.

Is it possible to use the solution in the below link:

Estoy buscando un esquema a mi actual infraestructura en crecimiento, tengo un servidor de Symantec Backup Exec trabajando en un sitio con su respectiva infraestructura y hoy estoy armando otra infraestructura fuera de sitio con otro servidor de Symantec y no encuentro un esquema compatible o cual es mi mejor opcion para replicar mi backup sea a disco o cinta, o a un disco deduplicado, o cual sea las opciones o esquemas que Symantec Back Exec me pueda ofrecer para que trabajen mis 2 servidores juntos

I need a solution

My text message address is number@mms-tf.net.  I can send text messages from my email to this address when the dash is included.Everytime it tries to send me a text it removes the dash and the text becomes undeliverable.  The corresponding email shows the address as number@mmstf.net.  How do I stop this from happening? 

We are running MS Windows Server 2008 R2.

I need a solution

I was trying to delete a few master servers from one of my OpsCenter servers, but it is taking forever. I select the master and click on delete. It refreshes and shows as 'deleting...', however, it has been like that for a few days now. Any way of making this faster, perhaps, SQL code?

I need a solution

Question on creating custom reports around jobs. I'm in the process of sending a report such that every day it reports on the number of jobs that had a certain error.

I'd like to create this report in such a way that a condition is that the report is only e-mail to me if the number of jobs in the report (it's for a 24-hour period) is greater than zero. Unfortunately, the only condition I've been able to find is for Job ID, which I don't want to have to keep track of unless I need to look at details for a specific job.

Is there a way to have a scheduled report run only if the number of items is greater than zero, or will it just run each day and send me a blank report, and that's my only option?

I have an application that dumps its backup files to a network location.

I want to run a single backup job that copies to tape only what has changed in the past 24 hours.

I know i can do a Full then an incremental.  but this means i have to run a full once a week.

Using BE 2010 there is a backup method called Working Set - Changed today.

What does Changed today mean?  past 24 hours from the last backup or from 00:01 to the time of the job?

What is my best option to just backup the changed files for the last 24 hours or last backup job?

Is this normal behaviour for DFS backups or has the backup become dazed and confused?  This not the first time seen this.

A MS-Windows policy is backing up only the Shadow Copy Components  from five dirs.  Found the DFSR server has disk IO maxed and found that two processes (bpbkar) were responsible for having squillions of files open (according to MS Resource Monitor).

Hi all,

We recently set up AIR between two sites and it's working great.  While it is running daily and I am trying to find a way to meet the requirements that we have for tracking and alerting on this process, mainly:

Elapsed time between end of backup and end of replication

Alerts on any failed replications or imports

Alerts on any replicaitons not completed in time per a given SLA

Creating simple reports in Opscenter is, well, simple.  But I am struggling with this one - I only see two canned reports that address AIR, SLP Status and SLP Backlog and neither meet these requirements.  Is there anything out there I can use or does this need to be built from the ground up?

This is a pretty baasci question, I just want to make sure I am doing this right. I am new to Netbackup appliances. I have a Netbackup 5230 appliance that is setup as the master server, and another one that will be at a different site, also server as a separate master server. Is the best way to administer the jobs policies to use Remote Admin Console on an admin server/machine?

Just a quick question about Backup Exec 2015. Is the Backup Exec 2010 R2 software upgradeable to the Backup Exec 2015.. I viewed the Software Compatibility guide but couldn't figure it out. If someone could let me know if this will work that would be awesome. If it is compatible is there any configurations that need to be done before the upgrade.

Hi,

I'm on a environment with Netbackup 7.6.0.2, including disks and tapes.

Images are on disks with staging, and are duplicated on tape later. But the DSSU jobs take a very long time, sometimes more than 200hours (and I must cancel it).

Based on this technote : https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH44719.html, I understand that when a DSSU job is launched, duplicate jobs are launched too, according to many criteria. And indeed, I have many duplicate jobs. But as I have only two drives with "max concurrent write drive" with the value 2, and so many are queued.

So, am I right if I understand that the DSSU job will be running until all of duplicate jobs are not finished ? Does it means that if a duplicate job is queued since, for exemple, 20hours, DSSU job associated will be running too ?

Or there can be another problem ?

Hi Team,

 previously we use to insert tapes in I/O slot of IBM TS3500 Tape Library and perform inventory in netbackup then tapes use to get insert in desired TLD(robot) which was working fine now

 when we insert tapes in tape library we have to assign those tapes to desired TLD(Robot) from tape library console then we have to perform inventory in netbackup which gets complete.

please help for the same.

We are trying to install BE on DC but DC are not backuped by BE (don't need permission for VSS which is equal to domain admin)

and here is my question, which permission required for service account?

domain admin will fail with security audit...
