Hi,
I want to test the desktop and loptop option by trying to install a trial version of the product.
I want t download the product but i do not know from where.?
Can you please provide me with a direct link for the idownload ?
Regards,
I make backups several times a week, I just deleted some old backup files thinking I wouldn't need them. When I try to recover a file, it says the file is deleted. And the file folder it is looking for is deleted, but shouldn't it be looking at the latest backup I made? Does SSR not backup all the files every time?
Hi,
I've been looking in the compatibility guides and trying to find any article to see if NetBackup 7.6.1.1 has support for Oracle 11g Express Edition. However, I haven't been able to find any document stating explicitly if Express Edition in particular is supported or not. Can any share info on this, on whether they have been able to configure Oracle backups with 11g Express Edition.
Thanks,
Saqib
Hello everyone,
I installed Backup Exec15 in a Windows Server 2008R2, the preinstallation and the installation was Ok, it was executed with no problem, but when i tried to run Exec15, it requests the username and password, I use the local administrator account and then it displays a Message error "the backup exec database was offline" and the application cannot be executed.
I enter to the SQL Studio, and tried to restart the Database but it displays another error message in where the SQL$BACKUPEXEC service cannot be started.
Please can you help me with this?
Thanky you in advance.
Greetings!
Hello,
I have BE15 running on a Windows 2012 Server. I have an NFS mount on the server that points to a storage array on my network with a drive letter on the Windows Server.
The Drive letter does not appear on the listing of drives that can be backed up on the BE15 server itself. Is there a way to back up this drive from the server itself?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
I am trying to prepare RHEL5 Client for restore from BMR.It gives me that error:
Any idea?
Thanks
Hi all,
I have configured Backup to Amazon S3 using the cloud connector. I did a test backup of 48GB (a VM). The upload of data was free but i have been charged for transfer out. Isn't the backup just uploading data, why is there a download of 48GB (see attachment)
What is backup exec doing to class it as a transfer out of S3?
Also when backing up the is no way to set the storage class to Standard IA or Glacier, it seem to all go into Standard, this is crazy!
Cloudberry backup can do this and its a fraction of the price.

Any help or information would be appreciated.
Hi,
We are still in the trial so trying to evaluate if the deduplicate option would be useful or not. From what I read, since we have remote offices, it could be really useful to save on bandwidth.
We created a deduplication drive in BE15 and did some tests.
We created 4x 8G files that we backuped once.
The deduplication drive has 32G of data in it.
We copied the 4 files on another server and tried to back them up.
Miracle, the backup phase was very fast, practically no bandwidth was required as the client side deduplication worked like a charm and the deduplication drive stayed at 32 gigs since the files were already there. So this seemed amazing...
But... During the verify phase, bandwidth was used between the BE15 server and the server being backed up. It caped our 60MBPS connexion but in Upload (traffic going from our BE15 TO the server being backed up)...
Is this a normal behavior ? I don't see the point of saving the requirement of the download if we need to upload everything back to the server for verification.
Both servers are Windows 2012 R2 with the BE agent on them.
I guess I configured Something wrong but can't find anything
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bonjour a tous
MErci d'avance
Cordialement

Hi All,
I am looking for the possible solution for problem on customer's environment.
I have read a lot of articles and posts. And did not found any solution. None of solutions (i.e. keepalive timeout, etc.) doesn't work for us.
We have a lot of servers which are behind the firewall. These servers are for Oracle databases.
And the problem is that the parent job is terminating after about 2 hours and backup ended with 636 error - read from input socket failed. All child jobs ending with 0.
The reason of the situation is firewall session which is set to 14400 half-second - 2 hours. Terminated session is established between client and media server.
I know the recomended solution is that we should increase the timeout for inactive session on firewall but LAN administrators don't want do this.
And here is my question. Is there any way to make this TCP session "active" for parent job during whole backup session? Maybe some output from RMAN script could be redirected to media server?
Media server is running AIX and below are tcp_* settings:
tcp_keepcnt = 8
tcp_keepidle = 28800
tcp_keepinit = 150
tcp_keepintvl = 150
Other timeout settings on master or client are also set to be above 2 hours.
We have tested on servers which are not behind the firewall and parent job is running longer then 2 hours. So we are sure thet the problem is firewall.
Master server: RHEL, NBU 7.6.1.1
Media server: AIX 7.1, NBU 7.5.0.3
Clients: various versions 7.5.0.4 to 7.6.1.1 most of them is AIX.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hi all,
I have purchased some new Cleaning tapes, and some labels for them.
The problem is that Backup Exec 2012 detects the tape ok, but assigns it to the "Scratch Media"
media set. I have set the slot to be a Cleaning Slot, but it still looks like it is treating the tape like a normal LTO5 tape.
I'm thinking my issue is due to the labels.
They have the following number sequence: C00001L5 to C00020L5
I asked for Cleaning tape labels, so maybe these are not the correct ones?
Trying to look into this, I found that it might be because there is no rule set up for the Label code specified above.
I tried to add a rule, and entered:
New-BEBarCodeRule -mediatype "CLN" -barcodeprefix "C"
but it didn't seem to work. I have run both a Scan and Inventory on the Slot itself and the Library.
Any ideas?
Are there more commands I need to run to get the rule to be enabled?
Do I have to restart the services?
Hello all,

Hi,
First Post here.
I want to create a report which will list the tape (Media Label) whicvh was written to for a particular server for the last 3 years.
I can see that BE holds this info for 3 months only. Is it the case that information is no gone or can it still be restrived without having to raise the 3 month limit going forward?
TIA
Hi everybody,
this my firts access to the blog.

Here is the scenario:
Current Setup is:
Server: Dell PowerEdge R720xd
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 0 @ 2.20GHz (2 Processors)
Memory: 65470MB
Storage:
DataDomain DD640
Quantum Scalar i500 Tape Library with 2xLTO4 & 2xLTO6
Local DisktoDisk Folder on 11TB Partition
Local DeDuplication Folder on 22TB Partition
The server is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise with BackupExec 2014
We currently have a VMware environment which is going to be migrated to Hyper-V Hosts using Datacentre 2012-R2 and at the same time the servers will be migrated to Windows 2012-R2.
So the dilema I am faced with is that the BE server will need to have an in-place upgrade to Windows 2012-R2 and we propose to also update to BE2015 at the same time. The spanner in the works is that our exchange environment is on Exchange 2007; the tools required for backup are not a supported on that version of Windows.
In order to continue to be able to backup the legacy exchange environment we are pondering what the options are.
We have the Capacity Licence for BE2014 and we have an older Server that was running BE2012 on Windows 2008-R2 so one option is to re-utilise the older server just for the exchange backups as it has all the required elements installed for these. However, the problem is how do I give the old server access to the Tape Library and Datadomain, for its backups, whilst retaining the other backups on the existing server using the same resources.
So basically trying to have two media servers(BE2015 and BE2012) attaching to the same storage.

Hi Team,
I have migrated one Netbackup Master Environment from Win 2008 to Win 2012 R2 OS.
We have taken Catalog backup in two tapes and verified the Version to be 7.6.0.4. We went ahead for Migration.
We have Installed Win 2012 R2 OS in new hardware and installed Netbackup 7.6.0.4 and initiated the Netbackup Import.
1. Issue 1 : We came to know the Catalog is spanned across two drive ( E and D drive ). Intially we suspected the netbackup is inatlled in D drive. We have Installed the Netbackup in D drive and catalog failed statsing no E drive. We identified and found the some of the catalog client images is linked to E drive using ALT PATH file.
Resolution: We have created E drive and Initiated the backup.
2. Issue 2 :8dot3 name is by default disabled in Win 2012 : In Win 2008 NTFS Filesytem 8dot3 name is by default enabled and In Win 2012 is by default disabled.
Resolution : We have enabled the 8dot3 name option in Win 2012 R2 and Restarted the backup.
3. Catalog failed with DB Staging and recovery error : We found the NBDB staging is trying to create move to E drive data folder and no data folder is available in E drive.
Resolution : Hence created the Data folder and Restarted the import. Imported completed sucessfully.
Is any way to find this kind of issue in future migration.
